The lecture will unravel 4 case studies, each representing different geological situation. Structural style is varying between extremely complex sub-salt Gulf of Mexico, through the Colombian fold-and-thrust belt to extensional settings
A non-structural situation from Southeast Asia will focus on reef mapping and seismic characterization. These cases will discuss mainly the seismic exploration method, highlighting the PSTM (pre-stack time migration) versus PSDM (pre-stack depth migration) applications, their limits and possibilities, as well as cutting-edge seismic inversion methods applied to carbonates.
Their implication on hydrocarbon exploration success and pitfalls will be emphasized, with important messages for present- and future hydrocarbon explorers.
